LIKA Picnic and 30 Lap Endurance Race 08-01-10 - On Sunday, August 1st, the Long Island Karting Association held the annual Club Picnic and 30 Lap Endurance Race. This race is twice the number of laps run on during a regular race day. It is a true test of both driver and kart. All three Monte Brothers would do well and completed all of the laps. Anthony Monte, who races in the 80cc Cadet class would spend the day battling for position with fellow competitor Dominick Ferrara. As each lap ticked off, Anthony was quicker in the tight turns but Dominick was quicker down the straightaways. The two drivers would battle lap after lap for 2nd and 3rd positions. In the end it was Dominick Ferrara who raced to the checkered flag for 2nd with Anthony pulling up along side for 3rd. It was a great battle to watch as the two raced each other clean. At the end of the race it was great to see the two competitors, and friends, congratulate each other on a well run race. An additional surprise on the day was to see Mrs. Monte, the boys mom, take a few laps in Nicholas' Rotax Junior kart as part of the Ladies Race. This was the first time Mrs. Monte had been in a competitive racing kart. All three boys cheered as mom raced down the straightaways and into the tight turns of the LIKA track.

- On Sunday, July 25th the Long Island Karting Association held a food
drive for Long Island's own Island Harvest. Island Harvest is You’ll be happy to know that with the $500.00, we plan on purchasing 62.5 bushels of corn (3,750 ears) that will supplement 2,299 meals. This corn will be given to our member agencies during our Summer Food Blitz on August 4 and August 17, said Doreen Principe from Island Harvest. The racing was also exciting as all three Monte Brothers took to the race track. First up was 7 year old, Austin Monte in the 50 cc Kid Kart class. Austin did a great job in the race as he continues to improve his driving skills. This is Austin's first year racing go karts.
Next up was 11 year old Anthony Monte in the 80 cc Cadet kart. Anthony qualified fourth for the race and would battle for most of the race with a fellow competitor for position. This was one of the most exciting races of the day. Anthony finished the race in 5th. As soon as the race was over, Anthony jumped out of his race kart to go over a congratulate his competitor in true sportsmanship fashion.
Last up was 13 year old Nicholas Monte in his Rotax Junior kart. This is Nicholas' first year in the much faster Rotax kart. Each every time Nicholas' goes out, he is improving his lap times. Unfortunately during Lap 4 Nicholas' chain would come off ending his day. Overall is was a good day for everyone. We raced. We made some new friends at Island Harvest and we helped to fight hunger on Long Island.
LIKA / OVRP Race #2 Report 06.20.10
- On Saturday, June 19th,
the Monte Brothers Racing Team traveled up to the Catskill region to
attend the 2nd race in the LIKA/OVRP Race Series. The LIKA/OVRP Race
Series is being held at the Oakland Valley Race Park facility in
Cuddebackville, New York.
Saturday was a hot and humid day so having the race at night when the temperatures were down was a good choice. This being the first time MBR attended a race at OVRP made for some challenges and new excitement. The turnout for the event was great. Over 75 drivers showed up and registered for the race. This provided for some great side by side racing on the track as well as some very crowded pit areas. First
out on the track for MBR would be Nicholas Monte in his Rotax Junior kart.
Nick stayed out of the racing line for the first few laps until he got a
feel for the track layout. Next up for MBR would be Austin Monte in his
50cc Kid Kart. The Kid Kart field had 14 drivers in it. It
was great to see so many young (5 yr to 7 yr) drivers at an event. Austin
did a great job of taking his time to learn the track while

The Monte Brothers are Nicholas, age 13 who runs in the Rotax Junior class, Anthony, age 11 who runs in the 80cc Cadet class and Austin, age 6 who runs in the 50cc Kid Kart class. All three brothers run the CRG chassis in their respective classes.
We would like to thank the guys at Kart Attack, who worked late into the night to prepare Nicholas' new CRG Kali kart for this event. Had it not been for the dedication of Tom and Steve at Kart Attack, Nicholas would not have had his new chassis for this event. Thanks again guys, you never let us down.

Press Release:
December 30, 2009 Monte Brothers Racing Takes a Few Family Members to GPNY 12.30.09
-
We did two races on the Uptown track which has some tight turns and a nice elevation change. Needless to say, the competitiveness came out in all of us as the laps ticked off. The usual mild manner behavior gave way to the bumping and grinding, "Rubbing is Racing" mentality. There were a few new family grudges created that night on the track. But when the last checkered flag waved, we all came away with smiles and a lot of good family memories. I think the next family reunion will be held at GPNY.
December 9, 2009 Monte Brothers Racing to Compete at Indoor Winter Series at GPNY 12.09.09 - With the outdoor race season over and the race karts packed away for the winter, both Nicholas and Anthony look forward to indoor racing activities. The folks at Grand Prix New York, an indoor racing facility in Mount Kisco, NY are hosting a three race series over the winter. GPNY is a top notch indoor karting facility with two race tracks with elevation changes and tight turns. The dates for the three races are January 16th, January 30th and February 13th. Racing starts at 9:00am, so get there early. GPNY will provide all of the equipment needed to race.
The Winter Series is open to all ages and to anyone who has an interest in go kart racing. This is a great opportunity to give go kart racing a try. Races are $45.00 per date. Entry Forms can be obtained directly from the GPNY website, www.GPNY.com or from the Long Island Karting Association website at www.LIKAOnline.com. We hope to see you there. November 8, 2009 Anthony Monte Finishes 2nd in the L.I.C Race #3 and 2nd in the Championship. 11.08.09
- On an unusually warm November Sunday morning, Anthony Monte of the
Monte Brothers Racing Team took to the track for the final event of the
2009 race season.
The day could not have been better. Anthony's kart was strong and during the three practice sessions for the day, Anthony would battle with fellow competitor and good friend Dominick Ferrara. a little bumping back and forth but the two drivers, as always, came off the track smiling and congratulated each other. Anthony's 2nd place finish in the race would secure 2nd place in the overall L.I.K.A Championship. This was a great way to end the 2009 season.
November 1, 2009 Engine Explosion Sidelines Nicholas Monte while Anthony Monte Finishes 2nd 11.01.09 - Bad luck continues but this time for Nicholas Monte. After Round 1 of practice, Nicholas' race kart just did not seem right. The kart just didn't have the usual power that Nicholas is accustomed to. After going over the kart everything looked ok and it was assumed that the damp weather had something to do with it. At the start of Round 2 of practice, Nicholas' kart just would not start. After a quick diagnosis by the guys at Kart Attack, it was determined that Nicholas' ignition coil was shot and it looked like his day was done unless we could locate another motor. We did and quickly went to work on the engine change. Thanks to Tom from Kart Attack, the engine change was completed in time for Nicholas to test the borrowed engine during Round 3 of practice. After a few laps, things were looking good, when suddenly the pull start on the engine exploded. Fortunately, Nicholas was not injured but we took the message from the racing gods, that Nicholas was not meant to race today. We parked the race kart to limit our loses to only TWO broken motors for the day.
On a better note, Anthony had a much better day. The kart issues that plagued him from the last race were gone and things were looking up. Anthony held his own and would finish both races in 2nd place for the Cadet Novice class.
The best news of the day was that Austin Monte, the youngest of the Monte Brothers, took a test drive for the first time in a 50cc Kid Kart. It was great to see Austin driving a race kart and even better to see both of his older brothers helping him on his special day.
October 25th, 2009 Tough Day for Anthony Monte while Nicholas Monte Finishes 5th 10.25.09 - What had hoped to be a good weekend of racing for the Monte Brothers Racing Team turned out to be a tough one. On Sunday, October 25th, the Long Island Karting Association would host Race #9 and Race #1 of the Long Island Championship Series. After a disappointing rain out on the prior weekend, Nicholas and Anthony were anxious to get back behind the wheel of their 80cc Cadet karts. During the first practice session, Anthony's kart was sluggish but after a few adjustment to the carburetor by some helpful competitors, his kart came to life. Thanks guys for the help! Nicholas' kart ran well considering the cold morning temperatures. Tires took a while to come in, but after a few laps, the lap times started to come down.
For today's race the Cadet and Cadet Novice classes would be combined with the Cadet Novice class starting in the back. Due to a mix up on the grid, the field went onto the track out of order and never got into the proper starting order. When the Green flag was thrown Anthony was last, but managed to get a good run down the straightaway passing several karts including Nicholas. Unfortunately, someone ran into the back of him at the end of the straightaway and sent him sailing into the barriers to end his race.
Nicholas managed to survive the maylay down the straightaway, and would finish the race in fifth place. It was a frustrating day, but we are looking forward to the last two races of the season. Even with this tough finish both Nicholas and Anthony were happy to be back in their karts racing again. September 19th, 2009 Nicholas Monte Makes His Return to Karting 09.19.09
- Nicholas Monte made his return to kart racing in the 80 cc Cadet class
after being sidelined for two months with a The starting order for Race 1 would be determined based on peapick and Nicholas would start in the back of the field. Nicholas would work his way up through the field aided by an early race crash and by lap 7 was in second place. While charging to the front, Nicholas slid through one of the turns and would finish Race 1 in third place. The starting order for Race 2 would be set by inverting the starting order from Race 1. Nicholas would start in the pole position and would lead Lap 1 of the race. At Lap 3 an overaggressive competitor attempted a pass at the end of the straightaway, that sent Nicholas into the barriers and taking him out of contention for the race. We were all extremely disappointed that what appeared to be a good return to racing ending this way. Our next event is scheduled for Sunday, October 18th at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, Ny.

July 12th , 2009 Monte Brothers Finish 2nd and 7th in Vanderbilt Series Race #2 Anthony Monte of the Monte Brothers Racing team finished 2nd in the Long Island Karting Association Vanderbilt Series Race # 2 in the 80cc Cadet Novice class.
Nicholas Monte of the Monte Brothers Racing team finished 7th in the Long Island Karting Association Vanderbilt Series Race # 2 in the 80cc Cadet class. Mechanical issues caused Nicholas to drop from 3rd to 7th place with only three laps to go. It was unfortunate and disappointing, but we are looking forward to the next event on August 2nd. June 6th, 2009 Anthony Monte Wins Saturday Sprint Series Race # 2 Anthony Monte of the Monte Brothers Racing team won Race 2 of the Saturday Sprint Series in the Cadet Novice Class of the Long Island Karting Association. Once again starting positions were chosen by pea pick. As luck would have it, Anthony would start in the pole position for the race. During one of the practice sessions, Anthony felt something strange with his kart and pulled off the track. It was the right decision as his disk brake disk started to come loose and was rubbing against the caliper. With the assistance of two fellow competitors, the braking system was repair and Anthony was able to go out for the last practice session to ensure everything was working properly. Anthony would lead the field from flag to flag with fending off challenges from a fellow competitor for the 12 lap race. This is Anthony's 3rd victory of the 2009 season.
Nicholas Monte Finishes 4th in Saturday Sprint Series Race # 2 Nicholas Monte of the Monte Brothers Racing team finished 4th in Race 2 of the Saturday Sprint Series in the 80cc Cadet class of the Long Island Karting Association. Nicholas also had some problems during one of the practice sessions, when his throttle shaft snapped. Thanks to the assistance of two fellow competitors, a new throttle shaft was located and Nicholas was able to make it back out for the final practice session to ensure everything was working properly. Nicholas would start the race from the Pole Position, but would slip back to 3rd at the end of the long straightaway. While trying to catch the leaders, Nicholas was bumped from behind in one of the turns which would send him spinning off the track. After regaining control of the kart Nicholas was given his position back but unfortunately would finish in 4th place.
May 30th, 2009 Anthony Monte Wins Saturday Sprint Series Race # 1 Anthony Monte of the Monte Brothers Racing team won the Inaugural Saturday Sprint Series Race in the Cadet Novice Class. Starting positions were chosen by pea pick. As luck would have it, Anthony would start on the Pole for the one race shootout. Anthony lead the field from Green Flag to Checkered Flag for the 12 lap race. This is Anthony's 2nd victory of the 2009 season.
Nicholas Monte Finishes 3rd in Saturday Sprint Series Race # 1 Nicholas Monte of the Monte Brothers Racing team finished 3rd in the Inaugural Saturday Sprint Series Race in the 80cc Cadet Class. Starting positions were chosen by pea pick and Nicholas would start the race on the inside of Row 2. At the end of Turn 1, Nicholas slipped back to 4th, but would soon regain the position by Lap 4 and would finish the race in 3rd place.

September 23rd, 2007 Finishes 3rd in Race, Chasing 2nd in Championship Points Race With a little bit of breathing room in the championship points race, Nicholas Monte and his 91 PLYCON Transportation race kart would turn their attention to closing the gap on the second place driver.
During the two practice sessions in the morning, the PLYCON Transportation kart was fast. So fast that Nicholas recorded his quickest lap time of the season. He cut almost a half second off of his best lap time to date. Nicholas would qualify 3rd for the first heat race and would start on the inside of Row 2.
At the drop of the Green Flag, the first and second place drivers would get a good jump on the field, leaving Nicholas to lead the chase after them. But these two drivers were fast, really fast and Nicholas would have to battle to keep his 3rd place position by the end of the first heat race.
The main event looked like a carbon copy of the heat race with the first four positions exactly the same. Nicholas was starting third again and was able to keep a close eye on the lead karts. Once again the first two karts would start to pull away from the rest of the field leaving Nicholas Monte in a battle for third with one of his friends and fellow racers.
Nicholas and the 91 PLYCON Transportation kart was faster on the straightaway, but his fellow competitor was faster in the turns. Feeling the pressure, Nicholas knew he had to drive it harder to keep his position, but not too hard to spin out. The sharp right hand turn at the end of the straightaway was the biggest concern. Nicholas' tires were starting to loose grip and the kart would slide more and more on each lap, giving his fellow competitor and shot at the position. But the tires on the PLYCON race kart would grip just enough to allow Nicholas to hold onto the position and finish the main event in 3rd place. September 9th , 2007 A Top 5 Expands Lead for 3rd Place. As the end of the season approaches, championship points become more important. With only an 8 point lead over the 4th place driver, the pressure was on for Nicholas Monte in his PLYCON Transportation race kart to have a good day of racing.
During the two practice sessions, the Monte Brothers Racing Team tried a few new things in the never ending search for more speed before the qualifying session. With little or no improvement in our lap times, it was decided to go back to our original race setup for qualifying. As luck would have it, Nicholas, in his PLYCON Transportation race kart, would start on the inside of Row 3. Starting next to Nicholas on the outside of Row 3, was the 4th place racer in the points championship Nicholas needed to beat.
At the drop of the green flag for the first heat race, the first four karts would get off to a strong start a pull away from the rest of the field. Nicholas would lead the rest of the field with the 4th place driver on his rear bumper. As the laps ticked off, Nicholas would pull away and finished the first heat race in 5th place, two positions in front of his rival.
Up next was the main event. Nicholas would start the race on the inside of Row 3 again. But this time his rival was starting directly behind him on the inside of Row 4. Getting a good start at the drop of the Green Flag was more important than ever. If Nicholas failed to get a good start, chances are he would get "freight trained" by the field and would most likely loose his hold on 3rd place in the points championships.
As the Green Flag waved, Nicholas punched the gas and would pull away from the field with the first four racers. Getting "freight trained" was not part of the MBR racing strategy. Nicholas and the other leaders would pull away from the field and comfortably finish the race in the same order they started.
Nicholas and his PLYCON Transportation race kart finished the main event in 5th place and expanded his lead over his 4th place rival in the points.
August 26th, 2007 Tough Break But Still Gets A Top 5. With an overcast sky the racing schedule for the day was in doubt, but the Monte Brothers Racing Team was anxious to get on the track for the two scheduled practice sessions. Nicholas Monte in the 91 Plycon Transportation was feeling good and comfortable. The track was fast and the kart felt good. During the Qualifying session, Nicholas got loose on one of the hair pin turns and was only able to qualify in 6th place for the first heat race.
With a fast kart in the heat race, Nicholas was able to charge to the front and moved into third place. The leader was starting to pull away which made the challenge that much more difficult for Nicholas in his 91 PLYCON Transportation race kart. When the White Flag waved signaling one lap to go, Nicholas moved up another position to second and was running down the leader. Unfortunately, the laps ran out before Nicholas would catch the leader.
In the Main event, Nicholas would start from the outside of the front row. At the drop of the Green flag, Nicholas would lead the pack into the first turn and would hold that position to lead lap 1. At the end of the straightaway, the second and third place karts were breaking away and catching up to 91 PLYCON Transportation kart. Going into the third turn, Nicholas was bumped from behind and spun, allowing several racers to pass him before he could straighten out and get going again. Not giving up, the 91 PLYCON Transportation kart ran down and passed a few fellow racers. Unfortunately once again the laps would run out on Nicholas and he finished the race in Fifth place.
We are very proud of Nicholas for keeping his cool and remaining focused on doing the best he could and not giving up!

Flyers race kart also had a good practice session. Being Anthony's
freshman year in racing, he continues to show improvements every time he
goes out in the kart. This weekend Anthony would improve his lap times in
each and every session. In
the qualifying session, Nicholas Monte scored the third fastest time and
would start the first heat race from the inside of the second row. When

July 29th, 2007 Thunder Storms Washes Out Race, Points Awarded by Qualifying Times On Sunday July 29th, the skies looked threatening but appeared to be holding off. The Monte Brothers Racing Team took to the track for a shortened race schedule of one round of practice, one round of qualifying and one main event race.
After the first round of practice, Team MBR looked strong and was turning in good lap times. Nicholas Monte in the 91 Plycon / Nassau Flyers race kart turned consistent lap times in the Top 5. Anthony Monte in the 92 Nassau Flyers / Plycon Transportation race kart was knocking full seconds off his lap times.
After the qualifying session, Team MBR eagerly awaited the results to see where the team would start for the main event. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans for the rest of the day. As the clouds rolled in and the skies darkened, we only had a few moments to take shelter before the rains came down and the wind blew in. After about an hour of down pouring rain and high winds the race day would come to an end. The track officials decided that points would be awarded based on the qualifying times.
